Authors
Here, the authors introduce themselves and explain which chapters they contributed to, what they do in their day jobs, and what motivated them to contribute to the guide.
| Name | Contributed chapters | Role and motivation |
|---|---|---|
| Björn Schulz | Introduction, Clean Core, Integration, Security | SAP Developer (Full Stack, ABAP Architect) at REWE digital, where I am responsible for areas such as Clean Core, ABAP architecture, development, guidelines, developer upskilling, and much more. The guide had been in need of an update for some time, as it did not reflect current trends in ABAP development and the document remains the go-to reference for development in many companies. |
| Dominik Panzer | Organization | Even the most talented ABAP developers with the best expertise will not succeed unless they find a positive and supportive environment within the company: from management right down to their team colleagues, underpinned by a clear strategy, a carefully considered architecture and modern software development processes. That is why, alongside 'technical excellence', I am also committed to issues relating to organization and software development processes and methodologies. Only both together make people – and thus the companies they work for – successful. |
| Enno Wulff | Testing | ABAP veteran (since 1994). I have been sharing my programming experience on Tricktresor since 2003. I have been with Inwerken since 2008 as a developer, programming mentor, initiator of the Code Dojo, product developer for AppKnight, and organizer of SAP Inside Tracks and ABAP Code Retreats in Hanover. Through my involvement in the DSAG guide, I have the opportunity to pass on knowledge and learn myself. |
| Fabian Lupa | Open Source | As a senior software engineer and trainer, I am primarily responsible for the training and further education of employees in the area of ABAP development at adesso as well as developer enablement in customer projects. In this context, current guidelines and best practices are crucial – for both newcomers and experienced developers. It was therefore particularly important to me to bring the guide up to date and to include topics that were not previously covered. |
| Florian Henninger | ABAP | As a developer and problem-solver, I’ve long been interested in what’s going on around me. I like to think outside the box and take pleasure in the insights and solutions that arise for all of us in our day-to-day work. As an ADT user from the very beginning, I am constantly fascinated by how much added value there is when you pay attention to the little things around you and don’t get lost in the daily grind. That is precisely what motivates me to get involved here (again). I’m sure you’ll find something for yourself too. |
| Harald Weidmann | Testing / other test tools | After more than 20 years of experience with other programming languages and development environments, I entered the SAP and ABAP world at Würth IT in 2016. I began establishing test management in 2018 and am now responsible for global test management in Würth’s SAP environment, where I work to advance testing at every level. Testing is still neglected in many areas, which makes it essential for an ABAP guide to address the subject. |
| Jan Sauerland | Modern ABAP Development | As the main point of contact for ABAP programming within the company, I had already drafted internal ABAP guidelines based on the old ABAP guide from 2016. I am therefore delighted to now be able to contribute to the DSAG guide for ABAP myself and to share the knowledge I have accumulated. |
| Julius Dacheneder | RAP, UI | In 2014, I had my first contact with ABAP as a working student at msg systems ag and since then I have been able to gain a lot of experience with modern ABAP and SAPUI5 development in various customer projects (mostly through the development of BOPF-based Fiori apps). Since 2025 I have been working on RAP developments for Upper Austrian medium-sized businesses at the S/4HANA Public Cloud. DSAG has always accompanied me on this path: I was able to learn a lot with and from them and am now happy to be able to give a little back myself. |
| Marco Krapf | ALM, testing / other test tools | Has been on the pitch as an SAP Solution Manager Libero for ten years. Started out in a great team in Hamburg, then moved south to play in his natural position. Not a qualified ABAP developer. Has the ALM toolbox at his disposal to support the team with Application Lifecycle Management tools such as process management, test management, custom code management and monitoring. Sees SAP as a point-and-click adventure in which new tasks and puzzles have to be solved every day by clicking on the screen, using logical thinking and talking to the other characters in the game. |
| Peter Luz | ABAP, Testing, AI | I have worked in the SAP field at Robert Bosch GmbH since 2006 and have developed SAP logistics functions in ABAP since 2010. Since 2024, I have been a lead developer in an S/4 template-development project for logistics. I have always found ABAP fascinating because it brings programming and business processes together, while the value of good software quality becomes visible in daily use. Contributing to a guide requires a considerable investment of time, but the conversations with the SAP community, the lively exchange of experience among the authors, and the opportunity to learn make it worthwhile. After contributing to the 2023 DSAG ADT Guide, I wanted to share the experience I have gained over many years of ABAP development. I hope this version of the guide helps and motivates many ABAP developers to use modern ABAP practices effectively in their daily work. |
| Sebastian Freilinger-Huber | AI and full review | I am Head of the Center of Excellence for SAP Application Development at the msg group. In addition to my coordinating role, I focus on ABAP and SAP Fiori technologies and am responsible for architectural decisions. I am currently particularly interested in helping traditional ABAP developers upskill toward ABAP Cloud. Together with Björn Schulz, I serve as a spokesperson for the DSAG Development Working Group, which launched the initiative for this guide. We hope the guide will provide meaningful value to a large number of ABAP developers. |
| Sven Treutler | Version Management, Documentation | A passionate ABAP developer. Since 2010, I have been working on ABAP development projects at rku.it GmbH in Herne. There, I focus on new technologies and quality assurance within the ABAP environment. I completed my master’s degree at Westfälische Hochschule (Westphalian University of Applied Sciences) in Gelsenkirchen. In my spare time, I enjoy visiting beautiful places with my wife; I am a proud cat owner and a supporter of Dortmund’s black-and-yellow football team. |
| Timo John | Testing, ABAP, Clean Core | |
| Volodymyr Vashchenko | Clean Core, Organization, Core Data Services, Integration | As an Enterprise Architect, I like to look far into the future – and I see a bright future for ABAP development, which is reaching new heights. As an ABAP Lead Developer at Festo, I was the whirlwind of innovation always at the forefront. Setting standards with the DSAG community is like a sacred accolade for me – only with less armor and more coffee kicks! Working with the renowned ABAP professionals has been enriching. Enjoy the read! |
